A sparkling and rich spicy floral fragrance that penetrates with a voluminous roundness, evident on the skin. This is a liquid imbued with saffron and patchouli petals, offering a palette that shifts from the realm of fresh roses to a vintage feel, akin to dusting off a fine red wine.

Its initial breath captures the moment just after dusk on a languid late autumn evening, when opening a door brings a waft of a bouquet that disrupts the stagnant air. This rose is neither deep red nor pale pink, but a pastel purple so pale it’s almost gray. The edges of its petals are just beginning to curl, bending with a fullness that mimics the shape of a convex teacup filled with rich spices and pieces of rare wood.

Its composition was inspired by the still-life aesthetic of Aedes Perfumery, a place in New York’s Lower East Side, where abundant arrangements spill from plump vases alongside feathered taxidermy and vintage fabrics. Incense lingers in the air, and beneath the nose, perhaps a blotter. The name derives from a variety of rose cultivated in France. Though its scent is subtle, its visual image evokes associations with a vintage look and feel, translated into Amnesia Rose.

Perfumer Luca Maffei spent years capturing the essence of perfumery in a bottle, gradually adding peppery and mysterious tones, ensuring the creation of something suitable for anyone’s skin. “This is an intense rose, whose individuality never fades and, above all, never goes unnoticed,” says Maffei. To create a lasting bloom with woody spices, he juxtaposed Moroccan rose absolute and Bulgarian rose essence with cypriol oil, saffron, and the juicy bushman’s candle. The effervescent pink pepper is immediately noticeable; however, the initial sparkle of Amnesia Rose soon transitions into a satin density that settles into a dry, earthy cushion of labdanum, patchouli, and oud.

Aedes De Venustas Amnesia Rose is presented in a ribbed glass bottle with peacock blue accents, a matte black cap embossed with an emblem, and a sleek yet substantial design. As Bradl says, “This is a rose for everyone.”
