Revenants is a somber collection by BeauFort London, where each fragrance seems to resurrect ghosts of the past. Dark and intense, they draw inspiration from English literature and art. The Eau de Parfum Rake & Ruin is an aromatic allusion to William Hogarth’s “A Rake’s Progress,” where the life of Tom Rakewell, the heir of a wealthy merchant, unfolds as a slow and inevitable moral decline. The scent recreates the atmosphere of an evening in a tavern – the noise, laughter, clinking glasses, and rivers of alcohol. Perfumer Julie Dunkley masterfully captures the scent of heavy air, steeped in strong drinks, smoke, and debauchery.

Top Notestrikes like the first sip of a strong drink – sharp, with a juniper-gin accent. Citrus bursts forth like freshly sliced lemon and orange wedges on the rim of a glass, while coriander and pepper add a fiery dryness, and licorice with angelica create a herbaceous-bitter nuance.

Heart Noteimmerses you in the very atmosphere of a stuffy hall. Intense cigarette smoke mingles with the scent of pine needles and cypress, as if a fire smolders nearby. Castoreum and costus lend an animalistic tone, revealing something wild, lustful, and uncontrollable. Labdanum and orris root evoke the sticky traces of spilled drinks on wooden tables.

Base Note, opening with dark wood and sandalwood, reproduces the scent of a damp floor soaked in alcohol. The Ambrarome molecule resonates like a raw blend of amber, leather, and tobacco, creating the impression of a smoky and semi-ruined space, while musk finishes with a corporeal touch.
